We have nearly 40 years’ experience working with local authorities and housing associations, providing expert property restoration services to public sector landlords.
We work through term contracts, framework agreements and on one-off projects. In addition, we are used to working effectively within agreed rates, such as the National Housing Federation Schedule of Rates.
On behalf of Mears Group, I want to express my appreciation for the excellent Safe System Of Work you provided and a job well done a such short notice. After reviewing RLH Health and Safety Documents, I wish other Contractors could improve on their documents that fall short in many ways in comparison to the one you provided. This is a model that all supplies chain should follow.
How we Work
During initial inspection, our experienced surveyors will identify any defects that may be causing deterioration of the building fabric and allowing damp and fungal decay to become established within the property. Our surveyors are not sales driven, so if there is a simple maintenance solution to the issue, we will always advise accordingly. An initial client report will outline a schedule of repairs to enable you to instruct your maintenance contractors to undertake the necessary work to rectify the problem.
We will only recommend remedial works when necessary, and will specify the recommended solution – including any alternative solutions, if available. Our team can provide you with the full range of remedial works for problems with the building fabric, including timber and damp treatments and replastering after maintenance and repair works have been carried out.
Health & Safety
Health and safety is extremely important to us and our excellence in this area has been recognised in our achievement of Constructionline Gold award. We are annually audited by CHAS, Safe Contractor, Builders Profile and SMAS and are externally audited for health and safety by Stallard Kane our health and safety consultants.
RLH Developments Limited are also regularly audited by the Property Care Association for health and safety and working practices and won the prestigious PCA Contractor of the Year award in 2012 as a result of one of our audits.
In situations where there is a particular health and safety issue or training requirement needed to complete the work effectively, we are happy to discuss the provision of additional training for our surveyors and operatives.
We regularly incorporate client-specific requirements into our monthly toolbox talks and health and safety briefings, and are happy to provide you with any additional information you may need to satisfy your health and safety or training policies.
For more information on our health and safety training provision, medical surveillance programme and training matrix, please refer to our health and safety page.
Caring for your tenants
Your tenants are our absolute priority while we are undertaking remedial work in their home. We realise that the work can be disruptive and unsettling and always go the extra mile to ensure that we cause the least possible disruption to their lives while we work as quickly and effectively as we can to improve their home.
All of our operatives and surveyors are DBS vetted and are experienced in working in situations where vulnerable tenants may find it harder to cope with people working in their homes. We are always courteous and respectful of tenants and ensure that we work safely and tidily while resolving the issues in their home. The many unsolicited testimonials we receive from public housing tenants demonstrate our high standards of professionalism and courtesy.
I am emailing to let you know that your operatives who carried out the damp proofing works at my property did a fantastic job. The operatives attended work on time, they were polite, they tidied up each day, they worked hard, they communicated well, they showed respect to my property and overall they conducted themselves in a professional manner.
